CLAT Law Entrance Exams

The Common law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted for admission to the undergraduate program at eleven National Law Universities and also for the post graduate Program (LLM) for admission to NLSIU, NALSAR, NLIU, WBNUJS, HNLU, GNLU, RMLNLU, RGNUL. The test would be conducted by National Law Universities in rotation on the basis of seniority.

Eligibility is one big factor for the candidates and students sitting for the examination to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes.

Common Law Admission Test


The Common Law Admission Test is popularly known as CLAT is being held on May 15, 2011 for admissions to Undergraduate and PG Law Courses in 11 prestigious Law Schools / Universities of India.

For those seeking admission to undergraduate programmes candidates must have cleared 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category have to score 45% marks.



A minimum of 55% marks in LLB or equivalent examination is essential for those sitting for the exams for postgraduate law programmes. 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC is held mandatory. It is to be noted that candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations in March/April 2011 can appear for CLAT- 2011, who are looking for admission in CLAT courses.

Examination Format/Pattern
10 + 2 Examination or equivalent with not less than 50% marks (students taking qualifying examination in March / April 2010 are also eligible to apply).

  • Total number of questions: - 200
  • Duration: - Two Hours
