North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology is a central Government College established in 1994.

It is a premier technical institute in East India set up by the Government of India. It has the best facilities and is comparable to any leading Engineering colleges of India. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
At present, the institute offers 4 years bachelor's degree courses in Civil, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Electronics and Telecommunication . Admission to these courses is made through a merit list prepared on the basis of the score of the candidates in the NERIST.
