Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) also known as Arunachal University, established in 1984, is a premier institution of higher learning of the State of Arunachal Pradesh.

It is a central university under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Rajiv Gandhi University or Arunachal University offers Undergraduate, Post-Graduate and Ph D programmes through on-campus departments as well as affiliated colleges. The university has a computerized library to support the needs of faculty, students, staff and researchers.

Rajiv Gandhi University has a V-SAT facility; the faculty and students make good use of it . The University has a placement cell that takes care of jobs for students post studies. The University has also been extending educational facilities to the students from the neighbouring States, particularly Assam.
