Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University(BNMU) also called B. N. Mandal University was established in January 1992 by Bihar State Enactment.

The University is located in Madhepura. The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India has given the status of deemed university to this institution. It's also the member institution of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The BNMU is a public university famous for its quality teaching across the state conducting graduate, post graduate and research programs in conventional and professional disciplines. The University has 27 Constituent colleges and 2 affiliated colleges. The University offers undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, undergraduate professional courses and post graduate professional courses.
