The University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and recognized by University Grant Commission, UGC, Government of India.
The L.N. Mithila University is a teaching-cum-affiliating University with 22 Post-Graduate Department, 43 Constituent Colleges (i.e. managed and maintained by the University), a fair number of affiliated colleges (i.e. colleges admitted to the priviledge of the university) and three Government institutions. The university offers Undergraduate Courses, Post Graduate Courses, Certificate Courses, Diploma Courses, M.Phil, Ph.D and various Vocational Courses.
