About Nalanda Open University:
Nalanda Open University (NOU) was established in 1987. Nalanda Open University is the only University in the State of Bihar meant for imparting education exclusively through the system of distance learning.

The main objective of the University is to cater higher education irrespective of age and economic class through Distance education. The University is recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC), and University Grants Commission (UGC). It is also the member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Nalanda Open University provides educational opportunities to those who are unable to take up formal education and are still desirous to upgrade their educational qualifications and acquire knowledge in various fields of learning. It conducts Certificate/ Intermediate/ Graduate and Master Degree courses in diverse fields.

The University offers undergraduate post graduate ,diploma,certificate and research oriented courses in diifferent fields through the schools of Management Studies & physical Sciences, Health & Environmental Sciences, Commerce & Social Sciences, Indian Languages & Religion, Teachers Education.
