About Indira Kala Sangit University:
Indira Kala Sangit University (IKSU) was established in 1956 by the government of Madhya Pradesh under an Act no. XIX of 1956 for providing education in arts and music.

The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission, UGC and it is also the member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). This is the only university of performing and visual arts in south-east Asia. It has 45 affiliated colleges, one affiliated research center and numerous recognized examination centers throughout India.
The University offers courses related to various art forms such as classical vocal music (Hindustani and Carnatic), classical instrumental music (Hindustani and carnatic), classical dance styles (Kathak and Bharatanatyam), folk dance and music, painting, sculpture and graphics.

The University imparts education and conducts researches in Indian Performing Visual Art forms. The University has a museum, which is an essential part of the Department of History of Indian Art and Culture. The museum is also enriched with archaeological remnants and art souvenirs.
