About Indira Gandhi National Open University:
Indira Gandhi National Open University was established in 1985 under the Act of Parliament. IGNOU is the largest Open University in India and 5th largest in the world.

IGNOU was founded to impart education by means of distance and open education, provide higher education opportunities particularly to the disadvantaged segments of society, to encourage, coordinate and set standards for distance and open education in India and strengthen the human resources of India through education. It also acts as a national resource centre, and serves to promote and maintain standards of distance education in India.
IGNOU played a vital role in the establishment of Distance Education Council (DEC) which is responsible for setting up standards in Distance Education in India and has a strong network of over 961 study centers spread across India.

IGNOU Degrees / Diplomas / Certificates are recognised by all the members of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the recognition of the MBA and MCA courses is provided by AICTE.
