Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi was established in 1988 by an Act of Parliament, as per the uniform procedure followed for all Central Universities in India.

It is not an affiliating university and there is no college affiliated to it. For boys the university has four hostels with limited number of seats and for girls there is only one hostel. In addition to this, there is one Working Women's Hostel also.
The Jamia Millia University offers courses at both Under-Graduate as well as Post-Graduate levels.
