About Goa University:
Goa University was established in June 1985. It is the only University in the State of Goa and one of the renowned Institutions for higher learning in the Country.

The jurisdiction of Goa University extends over the whole State of Goa. The University has 42 affiliated colleges, 5 recognized Institutions, 22 PG departments, Centre for Women's Studies and the University Science Instrumentation Centre.
Goa University offers both graduate and post-graduate studies and research programmes. It is currently (September 2006) accredited to the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in India with a rating of four stars. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) also.
