About Maharashi Dayanand University

:
Popularly known as MDU, Maharashi Dayanand University was established in 1976 as a residential university. The university was named after the great social reformer and founder of Arya Samaj, Maharshi Dayanand.

MDU is an B++ Grade University as declared by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC. It became a teaching-cum-affiliating university with the affiliation of several colleges of Haryana in the year 1978. The university was established under an act of Legislative Assembly of Haryana with the mission to establish and incorporate a teaching-cum-affiliating University at Rohtak for the encouragement of interdisciplinary higher education and research with special emphasis on studies of Life Sciences and Environmental and Ecological Sciences. The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and recognised by UGC.

The university is offering a wide range of academic programmes, PG Diploma/Courses, M Phil and PhD in several domains. At present, the university operates with thirteen faculties, 27 postgraduate departments and runs 77 academic programmes on the campus. In the main campus of University, there is a Directorate of Distance Education, which conducts twenty-four professional and regular courses.
