About University of Jammu:
The University of Jammu was established in 1969 under an Act of Jammu & Kashmir Act 1969 and is at present located on the banks of Tawi River in Jammu.

The university has been accredited as 'A' Grade by National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India. The university of Jammu is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and recognised by UGC. JU is the first in India to be given ISO-9001 certification.
The University has 33 teaching departments offering Post-Graduate, M Phil, Ph D in differnt disciplines and some diploma courses. The University also offers distance educations at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. Apart from the usual task of spreading knowledge and education, it also confers honorary status and other coveted distinctions on people who are exceptionally learned.
