About Ranchi University, Ranchi:
Ranchi University was established in 1960 in Ranchi, the present capital of Jharkhand as a teaching cum affiliated University with the objective to promote higher education to the people of the region.

Its territorial jurisdiction extends over the districts of Ranchi, Palamau, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Lohardaga, Gumla, Garhwa, Chatra, Latehar, Simdega and Seraikela-Kharswan. The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and recognised by UGC.
Beside courses on conventional subjects, the University also offers several vocational courses. Ranchi University has 35 constituent colleges and 29 affiliated colleges under its wing. The affiliated and the constituent colleges offer courses in Medical, Engineering, Management, Science, Arts and Law. The University has four faculties, which is organized into 24 departments.
