The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is recognised by UGC. On January 15, 1985 the first academic session as a Deemed University was held. The Univesity admitted 87 students for Masters Degree and 61 students for Doctoral Degree in 2006-07. The Institution type is Deemed University since November 16, 1983 under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (1956).
