Entrance Exams |
With increasing competitions among the students, entrance exams have become the preferred mode of admitting students to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The common entrance test has also helped the students in appearing in multiple entrance exams at one go. Entrance examinations are conducted by educational colleges and institutes to select students for admission into various fields of education.
This is especially true for the professional courses. Therefore for building a successful career, most students need to prepare for some entrance exams or other competitive exams at some stage of their life. The most important reason for making entrance exams the preferred mode of admission is because of the impartiality that they ensure.
These entrance exams are more common at the level of higher education in India. Most of the entrance exams in India are based on the pattern of multiple choice questions. Several institutes conduct two levels of exams (Pre and Main). The Pre exam is normally objective type and is conducted for selecting fewer candidates for sitting into the next level (Main Exam). The Main exam is generally essay type in nature. IIT-JEE and CBSE PMT are an example of this pattern of entrance exam.
Some entrance examinations are of national level whereas some cater to individual states. An example of this type (national level) of entrance exam is AIEEE where engineering schools across India admit around 15% of their students through this test (AIEEE) and the remaining based on their scores in the entrance exams conducted by the state in which the college is located. All India PMT is conducted by CBSE where admission is based on national test and state level tests.
